Hu and hei!
The season has finally begun, and we can look back on a spring with a lot of great engagement from our members. The boats have been polished and put in the water, and we’ve restarted our weekly training sessions. Finally, the summer weather has arrived in Trondheim, and our sailors have enjoyed some fine training sessions on the fjord. Let’s hope the season is long, enjoyable, and warm!
The regatta season is also in full swing. Just last weekend, NTNUI Sailing participated in the first event of the Sailing League in Bergen. We’re still fortunate to field two teams: one in the first division and one in the elite. Even in Bergen, the weather gods were on our side! The sailors can look back on a great and educational weekend. We’re already looking forward to the next event in Tønsberg in just over a month!
Looking ahead, NTNUI Sailing is excited to participate in various events. After SSL in Tønsberg in June, we’ll also take part in the Hankø Race Week 2024 with 3(!) Melges teams. It’ll be interesting to see how the sailing goes at Hankø this year. Then we’ll enter the summer holidays before kicking off again in mid-August with SSL event number 3 in Arendal. On the last weekend of August, you can find our talented female sailors participating in the Women’s Norwegian Championship for J/70 in Oslo. We’re hoping for more wind than last year!
Just a week after the Women’s Norwegian Championship in J/70, our Melges boats will be in action again, this time at the Norwegian Championship for Melges24 in Tønsberg. NTNUI Sailing is looking forward to an exciting championship! Just a week after that, the final event of SSL 2024 takes place. This time in Lillehammer!
The last major event, and perhaps the biggest of the year, is the Student Norwegian Championship in sailing, which we will organize together with BSI. The event will be during the first weekend of October. We encourage everyone who wants to participate to try to form teams with other students! In addition to all these regattas, we continue to run multiple weekly training sessions and participate in Wednesday regattas here in Trondheim throughout the season. Everything culminates with the classic trip to Tautra at the end of September. We’re looking forward to it!
